Endure, Poem 20

Endure

Your lover comes home once again,
and they raise their fist and strike.
You stand there, accepting the blows,
even though it isn't right.

You've endured throughout all the years,
claiming abuse is them showing love.
Because, after they're done beating you,
they'll hold you in a tight hug.

Something's different about this time,
it doesn't seem as if they'll halt.
They say that their life is ruined,
and everything's your fault.

They withdraw a gun, aim at you,
and you're hit with realization.
They're about to kill you, here and now,
without a bit of hesitation.

This is something you can't endure.
Are you willing to loose your life?
What will you choose now that you're here?
Will you die or will you fight?
